About NJKTA                                                                         __________________________________________________________

In our 22 year history, New Jersey Korean Tennis Association has witnessed quite a bit of its own tennis history -- from the John McEnroe temperamental “ah-juh-shi’s”, Pete Sampras serve-and-volley wannabe’s, and players whose fashion and equipment look prettier than their shot.  While poking fun at ourselves, our members have a great time playing tennis and promoting the game among Korean-Americans in the Northern New Jersey area.

Our club membership is comprised of mostly casual, weekend-warrior types and committed players of varied skill levels who are crazy about tennis. Our goal is simple: enjoy tennis, have fun, and don’t hurt anybody.

Our members primarily play doubles but we have a fair number of self-professed singles players.  Wood Park, in Leonia NJ, where we play outdoors every weekends, is a special sanctuary -- where we escape from the daily grind and play “pick-up” tennis with a bunch of insomniacs who arrive as early as 5:30am. Our monthly indoor doubles tournament held at Maywood Racquet Club is also a big draw for both members and guests alike.

On August 14, 2010, we proudly host our 22nd Annual Tennis Open, which is dedicated to our youth who share our passion for tennis. It is our hope that our Annual Tennis Open will provide an open venue where our youth can display their talents, further their pursuit of the game, and have a blast playing tennis.
